Well, realignment is over… So, what happened? Who went where, and was teams are about to make sire to double-check their buses for problems because they will be hitting the road? here’s all the districts and initial thoughts:
This district stayed the same except for San Angelo Central going east to be in 3-6A with Abilene and some dangerous teams from the DFW. Can Frenship make the playoffs this season? Can Tascosa take control in this district or is Permian the top dog?
This district is loaded and has the makings of a dogfight to the finish. Coronado, Abilene Cooper and Monterey went to the third round last year while the Mustangs made it to the Quarterfinal round. This season, there will be a lot tougher road for our teams as the second round will feature matchups against Colleyville Heritage, Denton Ryan, Grapevine and Richland Hills.. Whoah!!
Well, here comes the travel, well for some teams anyway. Lubbock-Cooper and Abilene Wylie join a dangerous district with WF Rider, Plainview and more in the gauntlet. The catch here is that the winner of this district has a serious shot to make some noise in 5A DII and maybe make it to a state semifinal! It’ll be tough, travel-wise, but the payoff may be tremendous!
Welcome Canyon down to 4A DI and welcome all four of these teams in this District to the playoffs
Estacado is now in a district with Dalhart and Perryton along with familiar faces. Some traveling will be going on here as well!
Make sure the buses are ready to go, because there will be some traveling going on… All these teams are in the playoffs.
The toughest district in 3A DI..PERIOD!! Bushland joins the fun with the war on 84 and Shallowater. WOW!
Abernathy has moved up to 3A and will be on the road for a couple of games along with playing some familiar teams like Roosevelt and Idalou.
Childress and Canadian will still reign supreme here with Friona join gin this tough district.
Panhandle looks to gain the most out of Stratford dropping down to 2A DII. But this all be a tough district again with teams like West Texas in the mix.
Goodbye Abernathy, hello Post. I talked with Coach Pittman and he said..”We’re back home.” Yes they are and they will be a force along with New Deal.
Seagraves saves on the travel a little bit as they will move into this district with some great rivalries coming.
Here is Stratford, maybe the champion coming out of 2A DII..Maybe. This is a vastly improved district with Gruver and Booker on the way up..
Welcome New Home to 11-man football and there are some other great teams in the district as well!
Here’s Wellington..in REGION II. Can the Skyrockets boom into the state semifinal against a great Stratford team? Or will Memphis or Quanah knock them off??
**Lamesa in in 1-4A DII and is the only team I’ll cover in that district**
