Week ten is here, and there is no shortage of good games on the schedule. With that said, there is one GREAT GAME.. New Deal vs Abernathy on Friday at 7:00pm in New Deal, Texas.

#1 NEW DEAL (8-0) VS #7 ABERNATHY (8-0)

Crazy to me that the entire state saw this game on the schedule and knew both teams would be 8-0 coming into this contest. Both teams are great and have dominating ground games as well as physical line play to boot. New Deal has more of an aerial presence with DK Blaylock and Brandon Coronado while the Antelopes can run it efficiently, which opens up the passing game for Bryson Daily to hit players like Donovan Rodriguez down the field. What will separate these teams in this near-even matchup? To me it will be turnovers and who wins the line of scrimmage in the game that will come out victorious. Jett Whitfield isn’t %100 percent healthy, but even %70 percent of him is scary enough for any opponent he faces. Bryson enjoys blocking for his teammates just as much as he does running or laying shots on defense in the game. Can Nehemiah break some runs to open the offense up for New Deal? Will Kole Carlisle be contained by the Lions all game? ┬áIs Friday here yet????

Friona had won their previous seven games of the season to clinch a playoff berth in 3A DI, and a winning season for the first time since 2009, but lost last week in a shootout to Muleshoe, 55-48. Is that a sign of things too come, or just a slip-up in the rise of the Chieftains? Here comes their toughest game this season; a trip into Shallyland to play the Shallowater Mustangs. Shallowater’s lone loss is to the 11th-ranked Matadors..in 4A! Cutter Sparks is an entirely different quarterback under Coach Wood and there are deadly players on both sides of the ball, and folks.. they are everywhere! Zach Aragon, Brody Hendrick, Braxton Jurado and more are locked in and ready to clinch 1-3A DI Friday night. Can Friona win, and at the least, stay in the game??

The Elks are looking like they always do around November; dangerous. Their ground attack is unparalleled around this Region and Stratford will be a dangerous opponent for anyone they go up against in the playoffs. West Texas will also be a tough team to eliminate in the playoffs as they are loaded and very fast at the skill-positions on the field. This will be a great battle up North!

#4 LEVELLAND (4-4) VS PAMPA (5-3)

An offensive shootout is coming in this 1-4A DI district clash on Friday. Both of these teams need a win, especially if they are trying to avoid a tougher route in 4A DI’S playoffs. Chris Gerber and Zach Estrada are doing damage this season in the air together and Gerber is ALWAYS a threat on the ground. Brandon Steward is putting up a huge amount of numbers for the Harvesters this season, again. But, will the defense be able to slow the Lobos down?

A great battle between 1-4A DII foes will take place in Denver City on Friday Night. I have one question: Will the Mustangs be able to slow down Colton Moore? He has been a touchdown machine this season and it will take a gargantuan effort for Denver City to get in his way. The Falcons are flying high, just in time for another deep run in the playoffs. Denver City should be fine with a possible game against Seminole in the first round of the playoffs looming….
