806 6A-5A WEEK 8 REPORT: CORONADO IMPRESSES, DUMAS STREAKING..

Week eight in 806 football saw some great performances, some surprising outcomes and some outstanding individual players that stepped up to the plate when needed! Here is the 6A-5A report.

In 6A, the Permian Panthers beat Tascosa, 49-0. Permian is on another level and looks to be hot at the right time as they will take on San Angelo Central Friday who be a Frenship, 49-14. Frenship is 0-8 on the year and have Odessa next week at Ratliff as the Bronchos and the Tigers look to get their first win in district play.

In 5A, the game of the week took place between Monterey and Coronado. Coronado’s Devin Morrison caught six receptions for 263 yards and four touchdowns as the Mustangs won, 51-22 over the Plainsmen. Qua Gray was 19-33 for 467 yards and six touchdowns with no interceptions as well. How about Lubbock High?? The Westerners beat San Angelo Lakeview 54-26 to get their first win of the season in 4-5A play. Lubbock High needed this win, confidence-wise, and now will face Abilene Cooper on Thursday; who beat Lubbock-Cooper 52-14 yesterday in a convincing effort.

In 3-5A action, Palo Duro defeated Canyon, 17-7 for their second win in district while Randall moved to 3-1 in district play with a 21-6 win over Hereford. Amarillo and Dumas also remained at the top of the standings with wins over Plainview and Caprock, respectfully. Amarillo vs Randall will be a great game coming this Friday!
